Welcome to the Brown Note Theory..

The Brown Note Theory are a musical trio from Far North Queensland who utilize elements of roots, rock and electronica in their sound. Performing 100% live with no sequenced tracks, TBNT mix traditional guitar, bass, and drums with theremin, analog delays, and bass synth to conjure up their own brand of sonic mayhem.

TBNT came together in early 2010 when former full time musicians Simon Wynyard and Todd Macalpine met at a show they were both involved in the sound engineering and production side of. They discovered they shared a common belief that the people on the other side of the mixing desk were having far more fun than them, and that they should immediately set about correcting this grave injustice. After going through drummers at a rate that would make Spinal Tap blush, they settled on drummer/percussionist Brad Foster and The Brown Note Theory was born.

Of course, the seedier elements of the sound engineering fraternity will have you believe that the brown note theory, or "disco dump" is a phenomenom whereupon if you play certain notes at sufficiently extreme volume, the noise will cause the listener to lose bowel control. The popular TV show "Mythbusters" have tried twice unsuccessfully to prove this theory. We don't think they tried hard enough.
